Techno-economic Analysis
Techno-economic analysis is where physics meets engineering meets business. We can build simple, yet thorough TEA models to help you understand your key levers, identify priorities or support due diligence and/or fundraising efforts. Examples of past TEA projects include utility-scale concentrating solar, direct-air-capture of CO2, robotics (commercial, ag, etc.), and high-throughput biochar.
Design & Analysis
With experience in mechanical design across consumer devices, robotics, industrial automation, energy products and optics, as well as a network of collaborators with experience in electrical, chemical, software engineering, product design and more, we can tackle your engineering challenges. Our experience with seeing products through from conception to mass manufacturing allows us to design for what’s needed right now while maintaining an eye on the future.
New Product Introduction
Turning a prototype into a scaled product is where there rubber meets the road. We have deep experience in DFX (Design for Manufacturing, Assembly, Test, Quality, Sustainability, etc.) and building out processes and manufacturing lines. We can provide support for make/buy decisions, vendor selection, supply chain and general manufacturing strategy. We also have a broad network of local and international contract manufaturers and factories.
Hardware Development Strategy
Hardware is hard, but the development methods and processes are well established. We can work with you as strategic advisors on your hardware development project, from roadmapping and help with decision making to product and overall business strategy.

Dave Youmans is the founder and principal engineer of Positive Interference.
His career has been spent on the forefront of new technologies including clean tech (solar, wind, biofuels, hydrogen, etc), wearable technology, and robotics. He has designed products that have shipped in the millions, deployed high-precision automation, built automated factories, guided investment decisions, and led teams to develop novel robots.
He has lived and breathed many of the roles in hardware development including:
